Neurodiversity Support 4 Schools
What is the aim of this website?
School is a tricky place to be, especially if students are struggling with learning and may have an underlying neurodiverse condition. This website was created by one of these students who had faced learning difficulties and bullying before they were tested for Autism Spectrum Disorder as an adult. The mission of this website is to provide help for schools for children who may be neurodiverse, to get them the support they need. This is not an official organisation, it is a centre of information by an ex-student for students.
Researchers concluded that around 80 % of girls with autism remained undiagnosed at the age of 18 years.
NHS statistics suggest that 20.3% – one in five – children and young people aged from eight to 16 years in England had a probable mental disorder in 2023.
New research from Action for Children reveals millions of pupils across England are falling behind their peers because of a lack of support for problems they face outside of school.
As many as one in five children in the UK are neurodivergent, with the majority attending mainstream education.
How can this information help?
The information on this website can help by gathering resources and information in one place. Meaning that it can be understood and used practically, further helping the students struggling. It will link to the appropriate organisations and charities such as The National Autistic Society, The NHS, The National Institute for Public Health, and many more.
This website will also feature research and first hand experience of the education system by neurodiverse individuals and people who have struggled through it.
Finally this website will not only provide the relevant information for each topic but will also give practical ways of how to help students who are struggling at school, or who may be neurodiverse. Please note: these are to be taken lightly, as ideas of what you could do, as opposed to rules which must be followed. These are suggested from research and experience.
